Getting hurt sucks
Especially when you're trying to get healthier
But if you're in the gym or on the mat long enough, injuries happen
But the GOOD news and what you must remember is that as long as it wasn't an acute injury (think car crash or broken bone)...
You can heal up quickly...
If you know what you're doing.
Back in the 70's a Japanese Dr named Katsu created a technique designed to heal ACL tears that would cut about 50% off the recovery time.
He did this by applying bands (almost tourniquet style) to the leg and then doing light movements.
The thought was that by occluding blood in the muscle you would drive healing
BUT IT'S ACTUALLY SO MUCH COOLER THAN THAT
When you put a band on your arm or leg and start doing curls some other movement with it, you don't need much weight to start getting a deep burn
And when you get that burn a lot of other things start happening.
- You get a dump of IGF-1 - (insulin growth factor) it's related to growth of muscle and healing of tissue.
- You get a big hit of HGH (natural human growth hormone)
- You get additional healing from the blood being forced into the area (this only applies if you band the affected limb)
-
Get them on Amazon (you can spend up to 500 bucks on these but the $12 ones are a good place to start)
I recorded a 12 minute podcast about this - you can check it out here
