The Problem with Fasting

Fasting is becoming more and more popular Not only for the fitness benefits but also for the massive impact it has on longevity and health Especially since we’re living in an ‘obeseademic’ environment, it can be helpful to fully abstain from eating from time to time.

Not only can this cut out 17-45% of your weekly calories, it also gives your body some time to detoxify from the environmental factors that are poisoning us.

Some of the amazing benefits of fasting include:

  • Promotes weight loss by using fat as the primary energy source.
  • Enhances hormone regulation, especially growth hormone for muscle growth.
  • Reduces inflammation in the body. Boosts metabolic rate through increased norepinephrine production.
  • Enhances mental clarity and concentration after initial hunger stages.
  • Reduces cravings for sugar by stabilizing insulin levels.
  • Reduces the risk of cancer by slowing the growth of tumors and increasing cancer cell death.

But there’s a downside to fasting that I wasn’t aware of for years.

I had been a fan of fasted training and cardio and would use it myself as well as with clients. It’s great if you wake up and train first thing in the morning… …which is probably what needs to happen for most of us if we want to stay consistent.

It’s just too hard to try to hit an afternoon workout because work, life, family… …all those things take precedence and a forgotten baseball practice can derail the best laid plans.

If you’re a busy parent or business owner, workouts should be done early as often as possible. Additionally, the idea was that in a fasted state, you were forced to use stored fat for fuel for your workouts.

But now what we’re seeing shows that’s not the case Here are some of the downsides to fasting (and what to do about them)

  • Decreased protein synthesis impedes muscle growth and repair
  • Increased muscle breakdown to supply amino acids to fuel your training
  • Reduced workout performance due to depleted nutrients
  • Slow recovery due to lack of nutrients can often lead to less workouts and increased injury risk

So how can you have it both ways?

How do you get the benefits of fasting without the downsides that come along with them?

It’s simple - you need calorie free amino acids that DON’T disrupt your fast and break you out of the powerful state of autophagy.

That’s why we came up with FastAid. It’s an amino formula that is proven to not raise blood sugar or insulin levels. It does this because the hydrolyzed (very fine) amino bypass the first hepatic pass (the first stage of digestion) Giving your body the fuel it needs to train harder without breaking down your valuable muscle tissue.

Simply by having some free aminos in your blood stream, it protects your body against muscles being scavenged for nutrients. It’s one of the most valuable things you can do while you’re fasting.

Plus it will accelerate results Help you burn more fat Allow you to fast longer without hunger pangs And give you a lean physique that you’ve been working towards.

Our ability to give our bodies the nutrients they need is unrivaled So if you do fasted training or cardio - make sure to use FastAid to give yourself the results of your hard work.
