I don't want my kids growing up afraid of pancakes. We use "Always" and "Sometimes" foods in our house. Steak? Always food. Ice cream? Sometimes food. It keeps things simple and shame-free. No food is bad. But not all food supports your goals. We also talk about protein a lot. It's hilarious, our kids will be out at a restaurant and ask "what food has the most protein in it?" I think it's because I talk about how important it is to be strong I don't like talking about being skinny or weight loss around them either. I think it's much better that they have a healthy relationship with food and exercise. Most of us didn't get that growing up. But if they know what a nutritious food is, and they see their mom and I training every week That's my gift to them and their health long term. And guess what? Adults need this just as much as kids do. Because if you’re constantly bouncing between guilt and binging, it’s not your willpower. It’s your food framework.
