So I started a new habit last week
I was gonna wait till the new year, but I got impatient.
It's simple.
Every morning I get up drink water like normal.
Then I do 10 minutes of cardio.
That's it.
A few things I've been thinking about with this.
1. I started this because my cardio sucked at my last BJJ competition.
it made me upset with myself.
I could have trained harder and showed up better.
It was within my control but I chose not too.
That makes me mad.
The only thing that makes me un-mad is taking action in the opposite direction.
You ever do this?
I donno...like overeat at a superbowl party?
Skip the gym even though you know you should go?
Neglect an anniversary?
What's done is done, but changes have to be made if you want to have any different outcome in your life.
2. It's super small.
I'm not doing 60 minutes of jogging
I'm not doing HIIT
I'm not doing burpees.
It's the simplest thing in the world.
But once I get a streak going, I can add in anything else I want.
With fitness especially, this is the way.
Starting off with palatable options that you KNOW you can succeed at.
And then growing.
That's why a lot of clients who we work with have very limited workouts to start.
Just enough to build the habit.
Then when we have that, it's much easier to add complexity.
So if you need to make a chance...
Get mad.
Then get working...but only a little bit to start.
Hope this is helpful, just been on my mind and I wanted to share it with you.
Talk soon,
Nate
